"Kahinah" Leather Work Tote
"Kahinah" Leather Work Tote
$444.00
Kahinah is a mainstay of our first line entitled the “Fortune Teller Series.”
Each of our handbags has a message designed into the handbags. The bag tells a story that is combined of elements from the culture it is from, the woman it was inspired by, and a fortune to carry with you.
This bag was inspired by a Berber queen named Al-Kahina or (Dihya). She was a priestess soothsayer for her people and lived in the seventh century. Her ability to see into the future and win her battles was spoken across the lands.
While the true identity of this woman remains unknown, and claimed by many of the area, she became a symbol for strength and resistance. Her life was one of legendary fortitude.
As women today, we have very different challenges. What does remain is the ability of women all around the world to inspire courage, execute beautiful strategy, and create hope.
How is this fortune weaved into the bag?
This work tote boasts a functional, yet simple design. The outside is of soft structure, yet the inside creates an elegant foundation that keeps your prized posessions from tipping over, without adding the weight of the world on your shoulder.
The bag is inspired, in color, by Jardin Majorelle, a botanical garden in Marrakech. The garden’s striking blue and yellow make it stand out from the pink of the buildings that surround it in the city. The gardens are breathtaking and sure to captivate any visitor. So too, will carrying this bag down the street in a sea of black totes.
The design is simple and not meant to be overbearing. The bright colors are meant to inspire a little positivity in your day and in the people around you.
As for the far-seeing, well the two yellow stripes down the bag, extended from the handles, symbolize the number “11.” Eleven has been long considered a divine portal number and will offer you a reminder to keep your eyes on the horizon.
